Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of capital structure on the financial performance of financial technology peer-to-peer lending companies (Fintech P2P Lending) in Indonesia. The research was conducted with a quantitative approach using secondary data from each company's website. This study uses 230 company samples for the 2019–2022 period. The independent variable of this study is the capital structure as measured by the proxy debt-to-equity ratio (DER), and the dependent variable is financial performance as measured by the proxy return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and operating expenses to operating income (BOPO). The control variables used consist of liquidity, company age, and company size. The results showed that capital structure has a significant effect on financial performance as measured by ROE and BOPO proxies and has no significant effect when measured by ROA proxies.
