Abstract
This study was effect of meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) on the macrophages activities and number of schizont of E. tenella infected chicken caecum. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of macrophages and the number of schizont in the caecum of broiler ( Gallus gal/us domesticus) strain CP 707 at 24 days old infected by E. tenella with giving extract of meniran. This type of research was an experimental design using Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 25 units of five experimental treatments, namely treatments PO (a group of chicken that wasn't infected by E. tenella), Pl treatment (group of chickens infected by E. tenella ), P2 treatment (group of chickens infected by E. tenel/a + 12.25 mg/ml dose extract of meniran), P3 treatment (group of chickens infected by E. tenella +14.7 mg/ml dose extract of meniran), and P4 treatment (group of chickens infected by E. tenella + 24.5 mg/ml dose extract of meniran). Datas were analyzed by ANOV A test. If there were significant differences (p <0.05), the statistical test followed by Duncan's multiple range test (Duncan's multiple range test) with a significant level of 5%. The results showed that a significant differences between meniran dose treatment at 12.25 mg/ ml, 14.7 mg I ml, 24.25 mg I ml and without meniran on features the activity of macrophages and the number of schizont. At 24.5 mg/ml dose of meniran extract showed the highest activity of macrophages and showed the lowest number of schizont.
