Abstract

This research is purposed to identify the relationship between response dimensions with action dimensions in a nurse-patient therapeutic relationship and to identify, which one is more dominant between response dimension and action dimension in a nurse-patient therapeutic relationship to the level of anxiety of pra operation patient at IRNA Bedah RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. The design of research is cross sectional that have an analytic characteristic where is done in an observation manner or the measurement of temporary variable. This research is held at April 18- May 11 in year 2002, the number of the sample is 31 respondent who are fill inclusion condition that is patient who have been prepared effectively, to be done operation action, not experiencing reality orientation disturb ion, patiens who are not experiencing physical defect, in age between 20-55 years old and have background of education minimal in junior high school, they also to be ready for being respondent. Data collection is done with using interview and questioner and then it is analyzed to get a result. To identify relationship between variables so we use logistic regression statistic test with level of significant p<0,05. The result of the research indicate that good response dimension is 74,2% and average response dimension 25,8 %and less response dimension is 0% whereas good action dimension is 64,5% and average action dimension 35,5 % and less action dimension is 0% ; light anxiety level is 61,3% and average anxiety level 38,7% and then for heavy anxiety level until panic is 0%. Based on logistic regression test indicate that there is a significant relationship between response dimension with the level of anxiety at level of significant 0,049 (p<0,05). Whereas action dimension also indicate that it has significant relationship with the level of anxiety of pra operation patient at level of significant 0,011 ( p=0,05). It is suggested to increase comprehension as effective as possible in application of nurse-patient therapeutic relationship in order to perform nursery, especially at pra operation patient and also it is necessary to be more developed in next research for the improvement of nursery knowledge and technology in the future.
