Abstract

The escalation of elderly in Jombang indicate that a good and comprehensive services of elderly should be increased. This aimed in order that the number of elderly using health services increase. Based on the researcher observation, known that the number of elderly using health services in local government clinic (Puskesmas) are still low. There are influenced by many factors such as Sosiodemographic factors (age, gender, marital status, ethnic & race) and sosiopsychologic factors (perception and health- illness concept, belief of health services). This study, focusing to the elderly as a consumer of health services in Puskesmas Pulo Lor Jombang, use analytic descriptive study to the both of elderly groups using health services and not. Data were collected by interview and focused group discussion (FGD). Collected data analyzed by frequency distribution. From sosiodemographic factors known that the most elderly using health services in Puskesmas Pulo Lor Jombang whose higher level of education and lower income. From sosiopsychologic factor known that elderly belief become the main factor determining elderly decision to use health services. The conclusion of this study, that most of elderly using health services in Puskesmas are elderly whose higher level of education and lower income, is appropriate with Dever (1984) explanation that user of public health services are people whose income is low. Lower income are influenced by lower education which make people get a job with lower income. From sosiopsychologic factors, that belief become the main factor is different with Dever explaining that perception health-illness concept is the main factor. Puskesmas should be increased their service quality like elderlys hope to increase elderlys belief for their health services.
