Abstract

Introduction. In the case ofleprosy families only brought the patient to an intensive treatment, but the family did not take action further treatment of the patient after the patient was declared cured or completed treatment, while the patient is still at risk of disability if not treated further as prevention of disability. Methods. This research design using analytic descriptive design with cross sectional approach. The population was leprosy adult family members were 20 people in the region Puskesmas Pegirian Surabaya. The independent variables of this research was the knowledge and attitude of the family. The dependent variable of this study was the treatment of leprosy patients. Collecting data using questionnaires and analyzed using Spearman Rho correlation test. Result and analysis. Family knowledge had no connection with leprosy patient care in the Puskesmas Pegirian Surabaya (p=0.657). There was a relation between the attitude of families with leprosy patient care in Puskesmas Pegirian Surabaya with a significance value for the attitude (p=O.OOl ). Discussion and conclusion. There was a strong relation between attitudes families with behavioral treatment of leprosy patients in Puskesmas Pegirian surabaya. So that the family should be more responsive in seeking information about leprosy and leprosy patient care is good and right according to the standard.
