Abstract
Knowledge of physical examination could effect the implementation of physical examination on internal disease cases, in this matter, it has a great influence on the less accurate nursing diagnose formulation and the nursing plan made. Thus, the nursing need of a patient was not fulfilled, in addition, it will make the patiens stay much longer in the hospital than they should be. The objective of this reseach was to find out the relationship of knowledge and physical examination in the internal disease cases. Design of this research was cross sectional, samples were nurses in Anggrek's Room A Wahab Sjahranie General Hospital Samarinda, and was taken in total sampling technique. All of them were 30 nurses. The independet variable was knowledge, while the dependent variabel was the implementation of physical examination in internal disease case. Data were collected with questioner and format observation, and then analyze in computer using the spearman Rank p ::; 0,05. Result of reseach showed that nurses having sufficient "knowledge were 23.3% with p = 0.000, nurses having good knowledge were 76.7% with p = 0.000, the implementation of physical examination in insufficient level were 13.3% with p = 0.000, mean while the sufficient level were 86.7% with p = 0.000. Value of p = 0.000 for the knowledge and implementation of physical examination in internal disease cases obtained from the statistical test result, which was less then the probability value, p =::; 0.05, so Ho was rejected It was concluded that there was a relation between knowledge and implementation of physical examination in the internal disease cases. The above description showed compatibility between theory and the reseach, that a good knowledge could influence the implementation of physical examination especially in internal disease cases.
