Abstract

Greatest risk in patients with mild brain injury is secondary to the trauma hipoxia. Oxygen therapy is one way to prevent hipoxia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the provision of oxygen by using a cannula and simple face mask in patients with mild brain injury through hemodynamic indicators. Research design using Quasy experiment. Population has taken a mild brain injury patients in emergency observation room dr. Soedono hospital at Madiun of 20 respondents who were determined based on inclusion criteria. Data has been collected for January, 18th to February, 10th 2010 using observations and observations recorded on the sheet with the measure; oxygen saturation, pulse, systole, diastole, MAP, CRT. Test analysis using Pair T-test with significance a :s 0.05. The results pre and post treatment in two groups of six indicators showed that two indicators were significance. In the treatment group obtained with a nasal cannula oxygen saturation of significance p = 0.01. In the treatment group using a simple oxygen mask obtained pulse of significance p = 0.02. The results of the post treatment comparisons showed the two groups was one indicator that showed the value of MAP significance with p= 0.04. The conclusion of this study found significant difference between the two methods of oxygen delivery to the patient's hemodynamic stability in the mild brain injury patients at emergency observation room dr. Soedono hospital at Madiun. Keywords: brain injury, oxygen, hemodynamic
