Abstract
Background: pulmonruy tuberculosis patients experience delayed diagnosis, noncompliance treatment, and poor prognosis due to stigma. They faced two types of stigma, external and intemal stigma. Data showed stigma among tuberculosis patient at high to moderate levels. Fear of infection and cultural perceptions in the community resulted complexity tuberculosis-related stigma. Objective: To assess tuberculosis-related stigma and associated factors (sociodemographic, knowledge, and clinical profile among tuberculosis pulmonruy patients Methods: The design was cross sectional study with sample 100 tuberculosis pulmonruy patients. The data collected use purposive sampling technique and questionnaire. Multivariate logistic multiple regression was perfotmed to examine the correlation of socio-demographic, clinical profile, and knowledge about TB with stigma. Results: About 57% of pulmonruy tuberculosis patients was stigma. Expe1ienced stigma was experience by 7% patient, intemalized stigma was felt by 29% patients, and both was 21% patients. Logistic multiple regression showed different associated factors among stigma extemal and stigma internal. Stigma extemal was significant associated with clinical profile (family histmy of tuberculosis), but stigma internal were significant associated with socio-demographic (marital status and income). Conclusion: Tuberculosis-related stigma was high among pulmonary tuberculosis patients, which internalized stigma was higher that experienced stigma. Effective intervention was needed to reduce tuberculosis-related stigma among pulmonruy tuberculosis patients with looking at family history of TB, marital status, and income factors.
