Abstract
Introduction: The prevalence of hypertension in the world at this time high; twothirds of those affected are from developing countries and a third of the industrialized countries. Increased prevalence of hypertension is closely related to the current epidemic of obesity worldwide goal of this study was to analyze the relationship of body mass index, blood pressure with hypertension risk. This study aimed to analyze the relationship betwees body mass index, blood pressure and hypertension risk among adolescents in Senior High School 6 Surabaya. Method: This research design was descriptive-corelational study among adolescent in Senior High School 6 Surabaya. This study involved 87 students of Senior High School Surabaya. Samples taken by simple random sampling. The independent variable were body mass index and blood pressure and dependent was hypertension risk. Data were taken by measure blood pressure, body mass index and questionaire to determine hypertension risk then analyzed using spearman rho with a S0.005. Results: The results showed that there was relationship between body mass index and blood pressure (p= 0,000) also blood pressure and hypertension risk (p= 0,000). Discussion: It can be concluded that body mass index had relationship with blood pressure and blood pressure had relationship with hypertension risk in adolescents. Further study shoud measured blood pressure two times to got more acurate blood pressure.
