Abstract
Patient satisfaction is the level of patient's feeling after comparing the result what they feel to what they hope. The factor that is important to create the patient's satisfaction is quality of service provided. In order to make qualified healthcare services, so the human factor such as nursing performance and material factor such as facility adequacy must be noticed. This study was aimed to explain the correlation of nursing performance and facility adequacy with the patient's satisfaction. Design used in this study was case study design. The population was patients who treated in Eyes Surgical Wards Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya from June lOth to 23th 2005, nurses and facilities. Through purposive sampling was 30 samples for patients, for nurses and facilities sample were taken with total sampling. The independent variables were nursing performance and facility adequacy, and the dependent variable was patients satisfaction. Data were collected using quetionaires and interview for patients and respondent observation for nursing performance and facility adequacy. Data were then analyzed using Spearman Rho with significance level p< 0.05. The result showed that there was correlation between nursing performance and patients satisfaction with significance value p= 0.024. In addition, the significance value of facility adequacy with patients satisfaction was p= 0.31. This result showed that there was correlation between facility adequacy and patient sa tis faction. It can be concluded that there is correlation between nursing performance and facility adequacy with patient's satisfaction. It must be noted for decision maker on hospital that patients satisfaction is the primary goal of health services especially in nursing care. Futher studies should involve large respondents, varied research sites, more complicated medical and nursing problems, and better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
