Abstract

Prolonged stress can affect blood pressure that increases through the sympathetic nerves, affecting the work of the heart. Efforts to limit the negative impact of stress are performed by stress management. It is a set of psychological procedures to reduce stress. The aim of this studies was to of stress management on blood pressure regulation inprimary hypertensive patients. The study used pre-experimental with pre-post test non randomized design. Total sample was 15 respondents. The independent variable was stress management with meditation techniques, breathing relaxation and aromatherapy. The dependent variable was blood pressure. Data were analyzed using the wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with significance value of.:::; 0.05. Results of data analysis revealed systolic blood pressure had p=O.OOO and the results of data analysis of diastolic blood pressure showed p=0.002. In conclusion, stress management with meditation techniques, breathing relaxation. and aromatherapy has influence on the regulation of blood pressure in patients with primary hypertension in the village of Wonoplintahan, Sidoarjo. Thus, stress management can help reduce stress level in patients with primary hypertension.
