Abstract

Tuberculosis still a public health problem in countries. Developing countries an estimated 95% of TB cases and 25% of deaths from TB in the in developing countries. Indonesia is a country with the third of TB cases in the world's largest. This is because the number of cases of smear (+) as a source of infection is not successfully cured. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors associated with the conversion of TB patients This research is an observational research with cross sectional approach. This research was conducted on the entire population of all smear positive TB patients who started treatment in July to September 2009 who had completed treatment at the intensive phase and has conducted inspections sputum at the BP4 Madiun. Variables in the study is that there are factors in patients treated TB patients is the motivation, knowledge of the patient, medication side effects and adherence with treatment of TB patients. To see the strength of the relationship between the studied variables used koifisien konfigensi analysis. The results of this study show the relationship between treatment adherence of TB patients with a conversion of success is strong enough with a contingency coefficient of 0.001. While the relationship between drug Side effects experienced by people with TB with the success of low conversion. Health providers and responsible care of the problem of TB is expected to more actively provide information to the public, especially TB endemic areas in an effort to increase knowledge about TB and how overcoming it.
