Abstract
Satisfaction is a generalized attitude on work it self. The source of dissatisfaction is due to excessive working load, either qualitatively. The higher the working lo~ either qualitatively or quantitatively. The higher the working load, the lower the level of satisfuction on the work it self. This study was aimed to identify working load and satisfuction level among the nurse in carrying out care and to analyse correlation between both variables. This study used cross sectional design, with population of all nurses worked in Inpatients Wards, Haji Hospital, Surabaya. Samples, consisted of 66 respondents, were enrolled using simple random sampling. Data collection on working load and level of satisfaction was undertaken using questionnaire with multiple choice. Data were processed using Speannan's rho statistical test with significance level of~ 0,05. Result revealed that most (75~8%) of the nurses in Internal wards, Haji Hospital, Surabaya, had a high working load, and most of them (89,4%) also had a lower level of satisfuction. Correlation between working load and nurses level of satisfaction in carrying out nursing care, with correlation coefficient of ---0.609, showing a strong correlation between both variables.
