Abstract

Breastfeeding was a natural way to feed the baby, but some women had a problem to do so. One of the most frequently encountered were reluctant to breastfeed your baby. Baby massage was one way to improve infant feeding in an easy and inexpensive. This study aimed to analyze the influence of infant massage on the ability to nurse the newborn. Research design was used Quasy Experimental Pre and Post. Population studies were all infants born spontaneously at the Dr. Soedono Hospital Madiun which had decreased ability to breastfeed (mean 7 babies per month) respondent was taken on the basis of inclusion criteria, the dependent variable was the ability to nurse a baby and independent variables was baby massage. Data collection had done by observation for two weeks. Data were analyzed using Mann Whithney and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with significant value a:5 0.05. The results of this study was obtained of the influence of infant massage to increase nursing capacity in infants with significant value a = 0.018, associated with an increased ability to nurse a baby in the treatment group. Can be concluded that the massage effect on improving infant feeding ability in the treatment group. For further research it took more respondents and measure better to improve the accuracy of research results.
