Abstract

Periappendicular infiltrat is a complication kind of acute appendicitis with poor handling that cause mass formation in appendix. One type of conservative therapy for periappendicular infiltrat is total bedrest. It has to carry out for at least two weeks. A very long time and a monotonous measure resulted in surfeit for the client. As a result of the surfeit, the client has a wrong perception to the informations given by the nurse. One method to avoid this misinterpretation is by giving the client a right education about total bedrest. As explanation above, researcher was interested to make a research about the relation between knowledge with the clients attitude toward total bedrest. This research took a place in surgical treatment room in District General Hospital (RSUD) of Sidoarjo. Research design that was used was descriptrive correlational. Samples were taken from clients with periappendicular infiltrat that was treated in surgical treatment room who had get health education and had not undergo surgery during Juni 2002. Total samples were 24 person, sample poll were taken by using non probability sampling type purposive sampling. The data were analyze by using Spearman statistical test with significancy level p < 0,05 and Pearson's Chi-Square Test with significancy a < 0,05. The result of Spearman statistical test showed a positive correlation (0,660) and probability 0,000 which lied under standart numeral Spearman test probability (0,05). It meant that there were significant relation between health education with the clients attitude toward total bedrest. Speannan correlation test result was 0,660 which lied above table numerical critic rho 0,409 that meant there were close relation between health education with the clients attitude. Pearson's Chi-Square test result was 0,014 which lied under standart numeral Chi Square test ( 0,05 ). It meant that there were significant relation between health education with the clients attitude. From this result, it can be concluded that an effective health education about total bedrest will make a better degree of succes in the treatment of clients with periappendicular infiltrat case.
