Abstract
Labor pain is an unpleasant sensation due to sensory nerve stimulation. The pain caused by uterine contractions, cervix dilatation and distension of the uteri body. Mother in labor are often unable to adapt of labor pain. Aromatherapy is nonfarmacologi treatment. Rose aromatherapy may increase comfort, decrease anxiety and fear, reduce mental and physical tension and also control pain. The objective of the study was to analyze the effect of rose (rosa damascene) aromatherapy to labor pain adaptation during active phase. Design used in this study was pra experimental. The samples were 8 respondents match thr inclusion criteria. The independent variable was rose aromatherapy, and the dependent variable was adaptation of labor pain and labor pain. Data collected using interview, observation and Bourbanais pain scale questionnaire. Adaptation of labor pain score and labor pain score at pre test and post test were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with level of significance p:S0.05. The result showed adaptation oflabor pain score increased (mean tl=+9.5) and labor pain score decreased (mean tl=-1) but statistical result showed no significant value between rose aromatherapy with adaptation labor pain (p=0.083) and labor pain (p=O.l57). It can be concluded that non farmacologi treatment for labor pain single used of rose aromatherapy could not provide maximum effect for adaptation of labor pain. Labor pain is influenced by many factors such as husband's support, age, and the experience of previous labor process. It is need futher research on the effect of rose aromatherapy to other variables of labor process.
