Abstract

Diarrhea in children is a disease which is mostly found in population with lower education in a densely populated area. Diarrhea may be caused by several reasons. The purpose of this research is to identify the nurse's role in preparing the departure of children patients with diarrhea and to reveal the level of satisfaction of the patient's family who keeps children with diarrhea on the hospital. Another purpose is to reveal the correlation between the nurse's role as the educator and the satisfaction level of the patient's family. The populations are taken from patient's family who keep children with diarrhea treated in RSUD Kabupaten Wonogiri Sample are taken from patient's families that meet the inclusion criteria and are taken on the basic of total sampling. The measurement used in this research is questionaire, with the total respondents 30 of the patient's families. The data are then tabulated and analyzed, and are tested statistically by using the .ChiSquare method with the value level P ~ 0,05. The result of the research reveals : 1) The nurse's role in giving understanding about the sign and symtoms of diarrhea with signification value 0,00001. 2) The nurse's role in giving understanding about the causes of diarrhea with signification value 0,00954. 3) The nurse's role in giving understanding about the management of diarrhea with signification value 0,01109. 4) The nurse's role as the educator in preparing the patient's departure and the satisfaction level of the patient's family with signification value 0,02353. It is concluded that there is a meaningful correlation between the nurse's role as the educator in preparing the patient's departure and the satisfaction level of the patient's family with children with diarrhea. The benefit of the research is to motivate and to increase the nurse's performance in giving service especially in preparing patient's departure on children with diarrhea. Besides, this research may also be an input in the teaching and learning process particularly those· about the children treatment. This research may also contribute to the enlargment of student's knowledge in PSIK UNAIR as the source of reference.
