Abstract

Neonatal with Low Birth Weight is one of the causes of high neonatal mortality in Indonesia. One of method to handle is a Kangaroo Method Care. The Kangarro Method Care is a method of early treatment with skin to skin contact beetween mother and neonatal in position like kangaroo. This study employed pra-experiment with one group pra-post test design. Population consisted of 13 nurses who work at NICU room Mitra Keluarga Hospital. Respondents who meet inclusion criteria were selected with purposive sampling at a total of 12 nurses. The independent variable was the effect health education with method demonstration and the dependent variable was behavior nurses. Data were collected by using quesionaire and observation with analysis data using Wilcoxon test with level of significant <0,05. Result of researh with Wilcoxon test showed that health education method demonstrations had significant effect the behavior nurses in Kangaroo Method Care with significant level of knowledge: 0,011 attitude: 0,003 and actions: 0,018 Hopefully Kangaroo Methode Care applied at neonatal with Low Birth Weight in NICU room Mitra Keluarga Hospital, further study can involve larger sample for better research.
