Abstract

The main problem of patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus is blood glucose uncontrol. Study about home visit counseling was expressed could reduce blood glucose in patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of home visit counseling to blood glucose control in patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus. Pra experimental study design was used in this study. The population were all patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus with high blood glucose (more than 180 mgldl) who fulfill inclution criteria in Community Center Care Mojo Surabaya. The sample was recruited using purposive sampling consists of 16 respondents. Counseling was done three times with topics: dietary management, hipoglicemic drugs, and diabetic exercise. Data were collected with observation paper and questioner. Data were analyzed using wilcoxon signed rank test and paired t-test with significant level p ~0,005. The statistic result showed that there were showed effect between home visit counseling of diabetes therapy and behaviour (knowledge, attitude, skill) of patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus with p=O,OOl for knowledge, p=0,003 for attitude, p=O,OOl for skill, reduced blood glucose after counseling with mean=102 mgldl and there were significant effect between behaviour after counseling with reduced blood glucose. The conclusion of these study was blood glucose control in patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus with home visit counseling about diabetes therapy, because counseling can increase behaviour of patient type 2 Diabetes mellitus to follow diabetes therapy. Further experiment should involve larger respondents and longer time to obtain more accurate results.
