Abstract

The nursing is a helping profession, so the therapeutic nurses relationship is an important element for nursing practice. This is to obtain maximum results in nursing health care. The quality of self, communication facilitation, response dimension and acting dimension is any element related to the therapeutic nurses relationship. The objective of this study was to find correlation between personal quality, facilitative communication, the dimension of response and action, with nurses' therapeutic communication capability. This study used cross-sectional method using purposive sampling to recndt samples. Observed sampJes comprised 14 respondents who were in duty at Internal Wards, Brigjend H. Hasan Basry Hospital, Kandangan. Data were collected using questionnaire and based on observation sheet. Data were subsequently subjected to Speannan-Rank Correlation test with a = 0.05. Result of this study, based on correlation coefficient value from Spearman rank test was found to be 0.730 with p = 0.003, indicating correlation between independent variables: quality of self, communication facilitation, response of dimension, acting of dimension, with the dependent variable: therapeutic nurses relationship. It is therefore important for the nurses to maintain and improve their knowledge and skill in therapeutic relationship to maintain and improve nursing care quality. In conclution, the better the quality of self, communication facilitation, response of dimension and acting of dimension, the more the therapeutic relationshif. It is recommended for other researchers in the future to wideg. the scope of study, not only in therapeutic relationship, but also more specific, example based on problem solving analisis.
