Hypercholesterolemia is one of the main causes of atherosclerosis, which is a calcification and ossification in venous wall; the high level of cholesterol in blood could be used as a predictor to the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Walking exercise in a regularly time is one of efforts to decreasing high cholesterol level in blood. This study was aimed to investigate the four weeks walking exercise effects to the decrease of cholesterol level in blood. Research method used in the study was a pre-experimental in One Group Pre-test Post-test Designs. Reached populations were 32 respondents. Sample chosen according to the inclusion using purposive sampling technique with total of sample were 16 respondents. Independent variable was walking exercise and dependent variable was the decrease of cholesterol level in blood. Data collected using an observation sheet. Data obtained was analyzed using paired T-test by mean of a 0.05. From the result it shows that there is a significant decrease of cholesterol level in blood during pre- and post- intervention by average decrease of 59,188 mg/d1, and Statistical result of Paired T-test was obtained p = 0.000. (P < 0.05). According to the result of the study, it could be concluded that there is an effect of walking exercise to the decrease of cholesterol level in blood. It is because the increasing of both fat and cholesterol burning as a body fuel to meet the required energy when walks. A further study was needed with a more respondent and considering such factors that could be effect to the cholesterol level such as age, gender, and diet so that the more accurate research is achieved.
