Abstract

Self-adjustment is an importance factor in human life, particularly for children of pre-school age that have been hospitalized often experience of stress with treatment. In order to release their worries there was determine by their parents' role. The parents' role that conduct to reduce child reaction toward stress with treatment was influence by several factor include demographics factor (education, age, occupation), kflowledge and attitude. In order to know the factors that determined role in facing child's self-adjustment toward treatment so there conducted research in child chamber of regional public hospital of Dr. R. Koesma on Tuban in July 2002. Design of research that used was cross sectional design where measurement has done at one time. The number of sample was 30 respondents that selected with purposive sampling type of non-probability sampling. Method of collecting data was used questioner and data was analyzed with chi square test (Xl ) with purposing level at value ofp ~ 0,05. Result from chi square test (Xl ) shown that degree of purpose in factor (1 ) demographic and role, education (0,04), age (p = 0,399), occupation (p = 0,165), knowledge (p = 0,000), attitude (p = 0,004) toward parents' role in facing child's self-adjustment that has been in treatment. Thus, can get conclusion that is factor which determining of parents' role in facing child's self-adjustment of pre-school age that has been in treatment at regional public hospital of Dr. R. Koesma on Tuban are factors include education, knowledge, and attitude that significantly to role while age and occupation did not have influence with role.
