Abstract

Avian Influenza is an infectious disease caused by Avian Influenza viruses. These viruses can infect fowl, birds and another mammal species like tiger, cat and leopard. The aim of the research is to detect H5NI Avian Influenza antibody on cats (Felis silvestris catus). The method of the research is survey in Jakarta. There are 43 sera of cats samples have been used a modified haemagglutination inhibition (HI) test that used H5Nl antigen. Sera were pretreated with Receptor Destroying Enzyme (RDE) (I-part sera: 3-part RDE). The HI test is positive when horse RBC form a compact button on the bottom of microplate's wells. Result of the test that 43 samples have been analysed, there were 29 positive samples on HI test. The conclusion of the research some cats in Jakarta has an H5Nl avian influenza antibody.
