Abstract

Introduction. Facing labor is one factor that can cause anxiety for mother's third trimester primigravidae. The purpose of this research study was to the effects of media health education booklet to the decrease of maternal anxiety in the third trimester primigravidae BPS Mrs. Leny Kumiasari Surabaya. Methods.Design used in this study was quasy experimental.population was third trimester primigravidae mothers who did antenatal care as much as 14 people based on inclusion criteria. independent variable was health education with booklet, while the dependent was the anxiety of pregnant women. Data taken with ST Al ( state trait anxiety inventory) questionnaire before and after health education. the treatment group were given health education with the booklet while in the control group were given health education with the leaflet, and they were analysed by using wilcoxon test and mann whitney u test with level of significance u :'.S 0.05. Results. Showed that the treatment group decreased anxiety, more significant with p = 0.014 Wilcoxon test and control groups were not significant with p = 1.00. while the mann whitney tests found significant results with p = 0.002. Discuccion and conclution. It can be concluded that health education with booklets effective to reduce the anxiety of pregnant women in third trimester primigravidae to facing labor. Booklet as media health education can fit more information, so it can be understood easily. Person with the higher knowledge will has a positive thinking so can cope positively, it that can reduce anxiety.
