Abstract

Several factors affect blood sugar level of patient with diabetes mellitus. These include diet, exercise, stress, and drugs antidiabetic. There were 25 % patient with DM experience blood sugar inacrement due to unhealthy diet. This study aimed to explain factors that play role to incompliant of diet (variety, quantity and schedule) that affecting blood glucose in patient with DM. This study was a cross sectional study. Sample was 15 respondents taken by consecutive sampling, Sample drawn from the population of patient with DM who suffered a relapse at Inpatient Intalation of Hajj General Hospital, Surabaya. Variable independent was incomplaince of diet and variable dependent was blood sugar level. The result of this study showed that the main factor of diet incompliant that affecting blood glucose was meals time. It was found that there were 13 patient who not follow the scheduled meals time. This result can be used as a frame of nursing development especially in medical surgical nursing related to diet regulation in patient with DM. From this study it can be conclude that role in scheduled meals time in hospital provision have an important role in blood sugar level regulation. Futher study is needed to analyse factors that play role in the incompliant of diet, affecting blood sugar control at inpatient instalation hajj general hospital, Surabaya.
