Abstract

Wound treatment using Opsite in the process of wound healing is rarely discussed in hospital in Indonesia. But at RSU Dr. Soedono Madillll which used sterile gauze is questioned. The objective of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of sterile gauze and Opsite in clean wmmd healing process in post fracture surgery at RSU Dr. Soedono Madiun. This study used quasy experimental design with consecutive sampling. The sample were 10 patients with clean wound post fracture surgery. The independent variables were sterile gauze and Opsite. The dependent variable was wound healing. The criteria of wound healing were inflammation (erythema, edema, and dry wound) and proliferation (granulation and uniting wound edge) phase. The data were collected by using observation sheet and analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney test with significance level ofp=0.05. The result showed that effect of wound treatment using sterile gauze had significant value in edema (p=0.046), diy wmmd (p--0.025), granulation (p=0.034) and wound edge (p=0.034). The erythema showed no significant value (p=l.00). TI1e result showed the influence of wound treatment using Opsite had significant value in granulation (p=0.025) and wound edge (p=0.025). The erythema, edema and dry wound showed no significant value (p=LOO). The resu1t showed that comparison of wound treatment using both dressing had significant value in granulation (p=0.014) and wound edge (p=0.014). The use of Opsite has a higher proliferative rate than the sterile gauze. In conclusion, sterile gauze and Opsite has effect on clean wound healing process in post :fracture surgery during the intlamatory and proliferation phase but there is difference between both dressing in duration of wmmd healing during the proliferation phase. Opsite is more effective than sterile gauze. Further studies are needed to identify the wound healing with homogenous sample
