Abstract
Introduction: Schizophrenia affects approximately 24 million people or 1 in 300 (0.32%) individuals worldwide. The incidence is at least 1 in 222 (0.45%) adults. This disease is currently incurable, with an emphasis on symptom control and maintaining the patient's functionality and independence. The aim of this case study is to implement hallucination management to enhance the ability to control hallucinations in clients with Undifferentiated Schizophrenia in the canary ward of Menur Surabaya Mental Hospital. Method: This scientific work employs a single-case study design with the research sample consisting of clients with Undifferentiated Schizophrenia and stable vital signs. The patient is a 38-year-old individual in good general condition, willing to undergo intervention, namely hallucination management with the application of SP 1-4 for 8 days. Data collection involves observation and interviews, documented in psychiatric nursing care, covering assessment, nursing diagnosis, interventions, implementation, and evaluation. Results and Discussion: Before the implementation, data revealed that the client appeared to talk to oneself, complained of hearing whispers at night, and seemed to have difficulty in connecting with others or being alone. After implementing nursing care through Strategies 1-4 for 8 days, results showed that the client could control hallucinations in several ways, including expressing emotions, conversing with others, maintaining a regular activity schedule, and taking routine medication. Among these methods, the client felt most comfortable talking to others. This indicates a congruence between the intervention results and the theory, where the application of SP can reduce hallucination symptoms, allowing the client to regain control. Conclusion: The implementation of Strategies 1-4 started to reduce hallucination symptoms by day 3, and the implementation strategy proved effective in helping the client control hallucinations. The effectiveness of the intervention is also supported by the client's awareness of experiencing hallucinations and conscious efforts to eliminate them.
