Abstract

This research is based on the amount of ojek driver who smoke a lot, especially there who live in Benjeng Gresik Generally Speaking, cigarette has a dangerous chemical substance inside and will cause breathing system disorder such as lungs cancer, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. There are signed by an early symptom of abstractive lung function disorder. The aim of chief study was to assets correlation smoking with decreasing of lungs function in ojek drivers in Benjeng Gresik. This research used Studi Kasus design. Population were taken from all of ojek drivers in Benjeng Gresik who fit with research criteria. Samples were 35 persons consisted of 23 persons for study group an 12 persons for control group. This research was done in 2 ways, by spreading questionnaire sheets to identify smoking habit and by measuring lung function of ojek driver who smoke and not smoke by using spiro meter. This result was tested using Fisher Exact test identify cigarette influence by using t-test for two independent samples. This research showed that 47, 8 % persons smoked 10-20 cigarettes per day, 69,5 % smoked more than 10 years, 47,8 % smoked with non-filter cigarette and 69,5 % smoked the cigarette smoke. The influence of smoking in decreasing lungs function are measured from data analyses in Fisher Exact Test with p = 0,035, with t test for 2 independent sample with FVC (liter) result 0,043, FVC (% pred) 0,007, FEVI (liter) 0,014, FEVI (% pred) 0,008 and ratio FEVI/FVC 0,019 Ho was unaccepted. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between smoking influence and decreasing of lungs function in ojek drivers in Benjeng Gresik. The writer suggests to the Health Department of Gresik through Public Health Center to perform health Education and Health Promotion.
