Abstract

Hospitalization is a state of crisis in children, when a child is sick and hospitalized, so the child must adapt to a hospital environment. Many factors that influence the stress of hospitalization in children one of them is a nurse caring behaviors. Professional nurses shall be behave caring to the patients. This study about the correlation of the nurse's caring behaviors to the hopitalization stress in preschool children at Ibnu Sina Hospital Gresik. This design was cross sectional. The population were all mother of the patient's who were hospitalized at IRNA anak RSUD Ibnu Sina Gresik. Total sample was 20 respondents, taken according to the criteria incl ution. The independent variable was nurse caring behaviour. The dependent variable was hopitalization stress in preschool children. Data were collected by using questionnaire and observation. Data was analyzed using Spearman Rank Correlation test with level of significance a<0,05. Result showed that correlation coefficient nurse caring behaviour and stress of hospitalization in children was p = 0,005 and correlation significant was r = 0,60 I. This study concluded there is a correlation between nurse caring behaviors to the stress of hospitalization in preschool children. If every professional nurses have caring behaviour so the stress of hospitalization in children can be decreased.
