Chemotherapy is a medical therapy that uses anti-cancer drugs and has side effects.
The biggest side effect is a disturbance frequency of nausea and vomiting. Someone that
nausea and vomiting will lose your appetite, so that the intake of nutrient-distwbed. music
and play therapy can be used to reduce nausea and vomiting. Among the play and music
therapy is not known which one is most effective when applied to patients experiencing
nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy. The Objective of this study was to analyze the
effectiveness of music and play therapy on increase nutrient intake, weight and albumin
patients who experience nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in Room Bona I
IRNA Anak RSUD Dr. Soetomo, and is there any difference in effectiveness.
This study used an experimental research design with the design QUasy pre-post test
control design. The population in this study was pediatric patients undergoing chemotherapy
experience nausea and vomiting in room of Bona I RSUD Dr. Soetorno. The total sample
there were 27 respondents. Quota sampling was done by sampling. The instruments used
was observation sheets nutrient intakr, body weight and Albumin After the data collected
statistical paired t test and one way anova test, with significance test p <0.0.
Results showed that play therapy and music therapy was effective in improving
nutritional intake where p <.05, but there was no difference between both effectiveness, as
shown by p values> 0.05. On weight and albumin, play and music therapy was not effective
in improving both.
The conclusion from this study, play therapy and music therapy was equally
effective in increasing intake nutrisi pada children experience side effects of chemotherapy
nausea and vomiting. Her advice to play and music therapy could be used as a treatment of
choice in addressing nutrition problems in children who experience side effects of
chemotherapy nausea and vomiting.
