Abstract
Abstract
Procedure of immunization injection has directly side effects including pain. Pain
due to immunization injections in infants are often not taken seriously and
considered unimportant. Side effects of untreated pain in infants is the permanent
damage cognitive development element, including learning, memory and
behavior, and increased somatic complaints during its development. The purpose
of this study to determine the effect of 35% oral sucrose solution to reduce the
response of pain due to immunization injections in infant. The design in this study
is true experimental research design. The populations are around the baby to be
immunized first combo in the working area clinic of Purwodadi Pasuruan.
Samples taken by consecutive sampling of 30 infants were divided into 2 groups
by random allocation, 15 infants treated group.. and 15 infants control group.
Independent variable is a 35% of oral sucrose solution and dependent variable is
pain response. Data taken with the pulse frequency measurement and observation
of behavior responses. The data analyzed by paired Nest. independent t-test. one
way anova, wilcoxon sign rank test and kruskal wallis statistics test with a
significance level of 95% (a = 0.05)
The results showed there is significant effect of a 35% oral sucrose solution to the
physiological response (p=0.000) and behavioral responses (p=0.002).
There is significant effect of oral sucrose solution 35% both to physiological or
behavioral responses due to pain in infants who were injected immunization. and
no significant difference in the effectiveness of oral sucrose solution 35% to
physiological or behavioral responses
