Abstract

Surgery and traumatic of surgical operation planed can rise anxiety respond for client This anxiety was showed by physiology symptom, emotional and cognitive. One of psychotherapy for overcoming anxiety uses spiritual religious approach., such as by praying therapy. This research is aimed to know effects of praying therapy toward patient anxiety level during pre-surgery. Design research used pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. The selected sample used purposive sampling method. Measured variable of the research is anxiety level for presurgery patient Measurement of anxiety level used anxiety scale of Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Respondents were given praying therapy as twice, that after afternoun and sun rise preyers before surgery. The result research showed that declining of anxiety level for respondents, based on statistical test of wilcoxon signed ranks test was obtained significant differences (p < 0,05). This research concluded that there is a significant effect of praying therapy towards the patient anxiety level during pre-surgery. Based on the result of this research was suggested to do the following research by changing or adding variable and comparing effectivity of praying therapy by other religious psychotherapies, such as: dzikir, sholat, and reading Al Quran.
