Abstract

The aims of this study was to determined the Effect of progesterone MP A (Medroxy Progesterone Acetate) and Prostaglandin F2a toward the time of onset of estrous and duration of estrous on sheep (Javanese fat tailed sheep). Eighteen of three years old female sheeps (Javanese fat tailed sheep) with 20-25 kg average body weight divided into three groups Pl, P2, and P3. Pl treated by 40 mg MPA intravaginal sponge and injected physiological NaCl, P2 induced by 40 mg MP A intravaginal sponge and injected 11 mg Prostaglandin F2a., and P3 gave 30 mg intravaginal sponge and injected 11 mg Prostaglandin F2a. The observation time of onset of estrous and duration of estrous occurence was conducted around four days after the removing intravaginal sponge and injection Prostaglandin F2a. This study used complete random design and the result has been analyzed using ANAYA (Analyzed of Variance) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test Method and processed by using SPSS version 20. The result showed the the combination of MP A dosage 40 mg and 30 mg with Prostaglandin F2a injection could effect the estrous occurence on sheeps (Javanese fat tailed sheep)
