Abstract

Cantang grouper fish is obtained from the cross between a female tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) and a male giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus). The hybrid cantang grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × Epinephelus lanceolatus) is an Indonesian fishery commodity that is currently still superior and has high economic value. Marine fish farming activities in Indonesian, especially cantang grouper relatively new farming activities and their development needs to be well organized, so that they still have the potential to be developed in improving the preservation of their natural resources. The purpose of the Field Work Practice (PKL) is to learn the hybridization technique of cantang grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × Epinephelus lanceolatus) and to learn the success factors in hybridization activities of cantang grouper. Field Work Practice (PKL) was carried out at UD. Arif Hatchery Buleleng, Bali on June 24 to August 24, 2024. The working method used in the Field Work Practice (PKL) is a descriptive method with data collection including primary data and secondary data. Data collection is carried out by means of observation, active participation, interviews, and literature studies. The stages of the hybridization technique of cantang grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × Epinephelus lanceolatus) include preparation of tanks, maintenance of broodstock, selection of broodstock, artificial spawning, egg harvesting, maintenance of larvae, grading, feed management, water quality management, pests and diseases, obstacles and control, harvesting of larvae, harvesting and packaging. The results of the observed parameters were fecundity of 2.049.976 grains, FR value 70%, HR value 48%, SR value 29%. Hybridization of tiger and giant grouper broodstock was carried out in the dark moon for approximately 30 days, while the maintenance of cantang larvae was carried out for 45 days. Water quality data obtained from the maintenance of cantang larvae in PKL activities were temperature, pH, salinity, and DO. The problems that occurred in the maintenance of broodstock were changes in seawater quality while in the larvae were mouth ulcers and cannibalism. The high market demand for cantang grouper commodities, both domestically and abroad, can develop the cultivation of cantang grouper eggs and larva
