Abstract
Team resilience has become increasingly important in the start-up ecosystem, which is characterized by high uncertainty and resource constraints. However, existing team resilience measures are not compatible with Indonesian start-up contexts. This study aims to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of a team resilience scale specifically designed for Indonesian start-ups using exploratory sequential mixed methods. The research involved two phases: qualitative exploration through focus group discussions with three start-up teams, followed by quantitative scale development and validation with 303 start-up team members from 62 companies. Qualitative findings revealed five dimensions of start-up team resilience: vulnerability, communication, adaptability, collective learning reflection, and conflict resolution. Quantitative analysis through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses resulted in a final 14-item scale with four dimensions: vulnerability, knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, and adaptability. The scale demonstrated excellent reliability (α = 0.883) and good validity evidence including content, construct, and criterion validity. Model fit indices were acceptable (CFI = 0.936, TLI = 0.919, RMSEA = 0.0657). These findings contribute to understanding team resilience in Indonesian start-up contexts and provide a practical assessment tool for start-up teams.
