Abstract

Passing information about cultural heritage to international students is a key aspect of preservation. Utilizing a 3D pop-up leaflet can help make the material more engaging and comprehensible. In creating such a leaflet, the writer followed McLean’s (2012) process, which includes prewriting, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. The study aimed to explore target user perceive the pop-up concept through observation and various data collection methods: observation, document analysis, surveys with open-ended questions, and word cloud analysis. The writing process for the pop-up leaflet titled “Pari Temple” was monitored over a month, documenting activities and notes in an observation table. Surveys conducted with international students at Universitas Airlangga using Google Forms provided insights into their perceptions. The feedback, analyzed with a word cloud to highlight common responses, showed that the leaflet was well-received. Participants, nine from diverse backgrounds, appreciated its clarity, informative content, and engaging design. The visuals, especially the 3D representations, were found effective in enhancing understanding. Overall, the study demonstrates that a well-designed pop-up leaflet can significantly aid in communicating cultural heritage to international student.
