Abstract
Translating a news article is a quite challenging task for the translator. The writer's use of cultural words creates a number of complications in the translation process. The news article is part of a literary product designed to provide readers with entertainment. This issue prompted the writer to perform her research in order to obtain the desired outcome in target language, allowing the translation to give the same interesting material as the source language. There are two news articles that the writer had chosen in conducting her research. There are eight methods based on Newmark Theory, but there is only one method used as the analysis result which was semantic translation. Moreover, there are six essential strategies were applied in this translation, such as addition, transposition, descriptive equivalent, synonym, modulation, and omission.
