Abstract

Vocabulary is central to English language teaching. Teaching vocabulary at an early age is fundamental since early age is the most effective time develops their potential in habitual, cognitive, motor, and art. A big book can be the one of the media to teach vocabulary for EFL young learners because of the size of a big book allows the students to be more focused and pay more attention to materials that would like to be taught. And animals are considered attractive for children. Therefore, the writer is interested in making an animal-themed big book titled “Baby Animal and Its Mother”. This report analyzes about the part of speech and sentence structure that were applied in making the big book. The writer applied the theory from Mauludin and Ardianti (2022) to analyze the part of speech and sentence structure. As the results, the part of speech that was applied in making the big book was noun, pronoun, and verb. Specfically, the nouns that are used were common nouns in both singular and plural form, and countable noun in both regular and irregular plural form. The pronouns that are used were demonstrative pronouns and personal pronouns. The verbs that are used were linking verbs. The sentence structure that was applied in making the big book was Subject-Linking Verb-Noun.
