Abstract

Vocabulary is a component of language that is important for a person to have in order not to have difficulties in learning a language. In general, children who do not have a lot of vocabulary will find it difficult to understand a text and affect their interest in learning (Rahman & Chiu, 2022). Therefore, it is necessary to encourage vocabulary mastery by using picture book media to support learning. This final report resulted in a picture book entitled “Fruits and Colors” which has several kinds of fruit and vocabulary that are classified by colors topic. The picture book were designed with interesting illustration to increase memory and understanding for the readers. According to Hladikova (2014), illustrations in the books are good at helping children understand the world as a whole even before they can read. In preparing the picture book, the author use the picture book as an data analysis to solve the statement of problems. Vocabulary in the picture book is important to be identified for figure out the CEFR level. The author analyzed the vocabulary level using Oxford Learner’s Dictionary website and figure out that the most level in the picture book were A1, C1, and C2. Moreover, all the vocabulary in the picture book is containing nouns. The author use journal from Mauludin and Ardianti (2024) to determine the type of nouns. The most type of nouns were common nouns and concrete nouns. This analyses are important to make it easy understanding by children and encourage critical thinking.
