Abstract
"This research was conducted from November to December 2021. The purpose of this study was to determine incidence rate of repeat breeder in 2020 and dominant factors of repeat breeders of Friesian Holstein dairy cows at KUD Kertajaya, Medowo Village, Kandangan Subdistrict, Kediri District. The method used in this research is a case report with purposive sampling technique namely female dairy cows that have been artificially inseminated more than or equal to three times. This study used 125 female Friesian Holstein to analyze artificial insemination recordings. This study uses primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from interviews breeders and inseminator. Secondary data was obtained from reproduction records of inseminator at KUD Kertajaya in 2020. Interviews with breeders included Body Condition Score (BCS), feed, water availability, housing system, pregnancy diagnosis, estrus detection, and history of cow reproductive diseases. Interviews with inseminators included straw quality, type and temperature of water for thawing, length of thawing time, semen handling, and procedure for IB rectal palpation. Based on the results of the study, incidence rate of repeat breeder at KUD Kertajaya in 2020 was 31,2% (39 out of 125 female Friesian Holstein dairy cows were positive repeat breeder) with Conception Rate (CR) was 47,2% and Service per Conception (S/C) was 2,48 times. The dominant factor causing repeat breeder at KUD Kertajaya in 2020 is the lack of precise detection of estrus by breeders and silent heat reproduction disorders. "
