Abstract

The aim of research is to identify the kind of ectoparasite on striped catfish that are bred traditionally by Sekarjaya farmer group in Karangpilang Surabaya. 90 samples were examined under the miscroscope to find out the presence of ectoparasite that exists in the outside of the fish. The ectoparasite examination on skin, fin and tail was done by taking the mucilage of fish then putting it on glass object and observing under the microscope. The ectoparasite examination on fish gill was done by cutting the gill with scissors, combing it with tweezer then putting it on glass object and observing under the microscope. The result of this research shows that 38 of 90 samples of fish were positively infected by ectoparasites. The ectoparasites were found in examination such as Gyrodactylus sp., Dactylogyrus sp., Trichodina sp. and Chilodonella sp
