Abstract
" This study aims to determine The Effect Of Exposure Electric Cigarette Using E- Liquid Based On Salt Nicotine On the Histopathological Illustration Of pulmo in Rats (Rattus Norvegicus). This study used 20 rats which divided in 5 groups.negative control group (K-) were not exposed by electric cigarette and treatment group were exposed by electric cigarette in different doses. Positive control (K+) given treatment by being exposed to electric cigarettes with e-liquid made from pure nicotine at a dose of 3mg/ml. while for the group P1, P2, and P3 given treatment by being exposed to electric cigarettes with e-liquid made from salt nicotine at a doses 25mg/ml, 35mg/ml and 50mg/ml. The treatment was carried out 2 times every day for 14 days using 1 ml of e-liquid for each treatment. After 14 days of treatment, rats were euthanasia and necropsy method was performed to identify macroscopy change, also the pulmo organs were dissected and preserved for histopathological study using Hematoxilin-Eosin staining. The results, show that damage of pulmo was defected within histopathology examination using 400x magnification. Moreover, the data was analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test and continued by Mann Whitney Test which show a significant different (P < 0,05).The histopathological features observed were widening of the lumen of the alveoli, thickening of the walls of the alveoli, and infiltration of inflammatory cells. The results of histopathological observations on rat lungs after treatment that had mild damage were treatment group P1 which was given treatment in the form of exposure to electric cigarette vapors using e-liquid based on nicotine salt at a dose of 25 mg/ml. Meanwhile, the most severe damage was the K+ treatment group with exposure to e-cigarette vapor with pure nicotine-based e-liquid at a dose of 3mg/ml. "
