Abstract

"Health problems due to parasites in dairy cows also cause a decrease in livestock productivity, weight loss, decreased working power, decreased milk production, stunted growth in young cattle and zoonotic hazards and cause death in livestock so that farmers' income will decrease. This study was conducted to obtain basic data regarding the types of parasites and the prevalence of parasites in dairy cattle in the livestock area of Medowo Village, Kandangan District, Kediri Regency, during November-December 2021. This research is a survey with a cross sectional study design. The number of samples used was 50 samples of dairy cow feces which were taken randomly and received examination treatment in the laboratory of the Parasitology Division of Veterinary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Airlangga University. The sample will be said to be positive if parasites are found in the form of worm eggs and protozoa (trophozoites, cysts and oocysts) from the examination using the native, sedimentation, and floating methods. The research results showed that Schistosoma sp. with a prevalence rate of 42%, Balantidium coli by 25%, Emeria sp. by 10%, Strongyloides sp. by 8%, Fasciola gigantica with a prevalence rate of 6%, and Moniezia benedini 5%. "
