Abstract

This study aimed to find out and identified gastrointestinal parasites in local chickens which sold at Lamongan regency. The samples were 70 local chickens purchased from three districts; Paciran, Solokuro and Sekaran. The samples was examined by having surgery through the digestive tract and fecal examination. Meanwhile, fecal examination used native methods, sediment and floating. The results showed 63 from 70 local chickens were infected by worms and protozoa that found in the gastrointestinal tract. Types of worms identified were Raillietina sp., Ascaridia galli, Heterakis gallinarum, and oocyst Eimeria sp through examination the digestive tract surgery. There were Raillietina sp., Ascaridia galli, Capillaria sp., Heterakis gallinarum, oocyst Eimeria sp found in examination of worm egg in fecal. Total prevalence of parasite gastrointestinal in the domestic poultry in local chicken of sold at Lamongan was 63 (90%). The most infected of local chicken was in intestine to the cloaca. There were no any worms found in proventricular and ventricular of the local chicken. The analysis result had shown that there was no differences (p>0,05) to sex on the prevalence and the level of parasite infection on gastrointestinal in local chicken. However, the results of the analysis showed differences in the types of chickens and sampling locations.
