Abstract
Background: Infectious keratitis is is one of the most important causes of corneal opacities, which is the second most common cause of blindness worldwide after cataracts. The important to obtain an appropriate specimen for bacteriological identification of the causative agent and the results of antibiotic sensitivity. Management of bacterial infectious keratitis should pay attention to the selection of appropriate antibiotics. Purpose: To provide information about the microbial profile with clinical characteristics of infectious keratitis and antibiotic therapy used with antibiotic sensitivity results and therapeutic outcomes in infectious keratitis patient. Methods: Demographic factors, predisposing factors and clinical characteristics of inpatient infectious keratitis patients between June 1st 2016 – May 31th 2020 was evaluated by logistic regretion analysis. Total 154 patients ware included. Result: The microbial profile associated with the type of organism and species classification was the diameter of the corneal lesion (the Eta(?) test result is 0.280. Patients with an overall level of compliance with therapy was 25.17%. There was an association between definitive therapy and treatment outcomes with improved outcomes in 38 patients (47.5%) and no improvement in 42 patients (52.5%). Conclusion: the microbial profile associated with the type of organism and species classification was the diameter of the corneal lesion. Patients with an overall level of compliance with therapy were 25.17% and There was an association between definitive therapy and treatment outcomes.
