Abstract

North Maluku Province is designated as a province there have not been Avian Influenza cases found both in poultry or in human. The Governor Regulation of North Maluku no. 17 in 2007 concerns on the prohibition to enter living poultries, to control poultry traffic, and to control the ingredients from poultry. As the regional development, there has been an increase of human traffic to and from North Maluku Province, including poultry. In North Maluku Province, 7 of 91 ports are monitored by the Ternate Class II Agricultural Quarantine Center. This research is conducted in the Ahmad Yani Ternate port, Fery Bastiong port, and Jailolo port. It aims to find out the health condition of the chickens caught and the differences of the number of poultries (chicken) caught in 3 ports and illegally transported by ship passengers to North Maluku from 2018 to 2021. The finding shows 58.8% is the chicken caught in the Ahmad Yani Ternate port, 26.8% is in Ferry Bastiong port, and 14,4% is in Jailolo port. The percentage of the chickens caught in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 respectively is as the following: 26.4%, 26.5%, 24.9%, and 22.3%. Meanwhile, the result of HI test on the chickens caught reveals there is no Avian Influenza virus. As an evaluation form of quarantine implementation, the chicken samples in society in 2019 and in 2021 are tested by using a PCR-test method. The result is positively 2.1% Avian Influenza.
