Abstract

Bioscrew is a screw that can be absorbed and degraded in the body until the bone formation process is completed. Macro and micro design of a screw can exert a great influence on the mechanical strength of bioscrew. Macro design in the form of a screw design both from the thread geometry, the length of the screw, and the screw head. The micro design is the biomaterial that makes up the bioscrew. The purpose of this study is to identify macro-micro designs that can increase mechanical strength in the form of torque and compressive strength. The research was conducted in the form of a literate review using the keywords "Bioabsorbable Screw Material and Torque", "Bioabsorbable Screw Material and Compression", "Bioscrew design and Torque", "Bioscrew design and Compression". Based on this research, it can be known that the macro design can increase the mechanical strength of the bioscrew with a shorter pitch, the design of the bioscrew without holes, the use of the EndoPearl tool for screws that are small in size, as well as the selection of the shape of the thread and screw head. While micro design can affect mechanical strength with the use of composites both from polymers, biochemetics, and bioactive-glass
