Abstract

"ABSTRACT The country of Japan has various interesting phenomena, one of which is the petboom, the petboom itself can be defined as an increase in the number of pets kept by the Japanese people, this is due to the declining number of Japanese population and the need for objects to project that affection, as long as there is a sense of affection. pets can also be referred to as family. The pet boom phenomenon is depicted indirectly through various media that tell about the employer and his pet, one of which is a novel entitled Tabi Neko Rip?to and due to the popularity of the novel, it was eventually adapted into a film directed by Koichiro Miki. This adaptation resulted in changing the elements in the novel when it was filmed, it was because the tools used to display the story in the novel and film were different. This study aims to analyze these changes, namely, one of the literary works from Japan, namely the novel entitled Tabi Neko Rip?to by Hiro Arikawa in a film of the same title and directed by Koichiro Miki. This thesis research uses ecranization theory and is a descriptive qualitative research by analyzing its intrinsic elements. As for the results of this research, the novel and its film adaptation have an intrinsic element of theme, plot and message in common. And has different intrinsic elements of character and setting. The manifestations of the ecranization process were found, namely, two contractions that occurred, four additions to story scenes, and five changes in variations that occurred in the Tabi Neko Rip?to film."
