Abstract

Randu leaves (Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn) is one of the medicinal plants used as traditional medicine. So far, in its uses randu will be developed as standardized herbal medicine and phytopharmaca product. So that, the standardization process should be done and it was begun by determination of standard parameter of extract which will be used. Standard parameter which used in this research refers to Herbal Pharmacopoeia of Indonesia. The aim of this study is to determine spesific and nonspesific parameters of ethanolic extract of randu leaves. The result of the standard parameters of randu 96% ethanolic extract showed that, the yield of extract from Surabaya was 14.6%, from Malang was 14.0%. Determination of water soluble extractive substance from Surabaya was (65.32 ± 1.16%), from Malang was (53.58 ± 1.32%). Determination of ethanol soluble extractive substance from Surabaya was (55.40 ± 1.23%), from Malang was (61.56 ± 1.08%). Chromatograph pattern by TLC showed that extract randu from all area have sterol content that compared by β- sitosterol. Determination of total sterol content by TLC-Densitometry from Surabaya was (0.60 ± 0.02%), from Malang was (0.51 ± 0.04%). Determination of volatile matter content from Surabaya was (13.40 ± 0.09%), from Malang was (14.91± 0.05%). Determination of total ash content from Surabaya was (7.90 ± 0.08%), from Malang was (7.70 ± 0.10%). Determination of acid insoluble ash content from Surabaya was (1.08 ± 0.02%), from Malang was (0.35 ± 0.005%). Determination of water content from Surabaya was (6.00 ± 0.0004%), from Malang was (7.00 ± 0.0004%).
