Abstract

Kusta adalah suatu penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh mycobacterium leprae yang menyerang saraf tepi, kulit dan jaringan tubuh lainnya. Kecacatan yang timbul akibat penyakit kusta merupakan stressor bagi penderita sehingga dapat mempengaruhi citra tubuh dalam dirinya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran citra tubuh pada penderita kusta di UPTD Babat Jerawat Surabaya tahun 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, alat ukut yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Sample berjumlah 20 orang penderita kusta yang telah mengalami kecacatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra tubuh pada penderita kusta yang berada dalam kategori negative sebanyak 11 orang (55%) dan kategori positif sebanyak 9 orang (45%). Hal ini disebabkan oleh karena perilaku masyarakat sekitar yang menjauhi penderita kusta sehingga penderita kusta merasa malu dengan dirinya. Sehingga disarankan untuk petugas kesehatan, kader dan keluarga untuk memberi motivasi dan dukungan untuk melakukan pengobatan rutin sehingga kecacatan tidak semakin parah yang dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya gangguan citra tubuh. ABSTRACT Leprosy is an infectious disease caused by mycobacterium leprae which attacks the peripheral nerves, skin and other body tissues. Disability arising from leprosy is a stressor for sufferers so that it can affect the body image in him. The purpose of this study was to describe the body image of lepers in the UPTD Babat Jerawat Surabaya in 2019. This study uses descriptive quantitative research methods, the tool used is a questionnaire. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. A sample of 20 patients with leprosy had been diagnosed. The results showed that body image in leprosy patients in the negative category was 11 people (55%) and positive categories were 9 people (45%). This is due to the behavior of the surrounding community who shun leprosy sufferers so that lepers are embarrassed by themselves. So it is recommended for health workers, cadres and families to provide motivation and support for routine treatment so that disability is not getting worse which can lead to disruption of body image.
